    To Decongest East Delhi, Centre Proposes A 19-Km Highway

    The Centre is planning to build a 19-km highway starting from Loni near the Delhi-Ghaziabad border to the Akshardham flyover. The new highway will allow commuters to avoid the congested areas of east Delhi and reach the Saharanpur-bound national highway NH709B near Loni from the NH-24 directly. The project has received an in-principle approval while it may take upto three months to file a detailed project report.

    Home Loans Will be Linked To Market From April 1

    The RBI has mandated that all new floating rate personal and retail loans be linked to one of the four market benchmarks from April 1 next year. Now, banks have the choice to link their lending rate to any of the four benchmarks – repo rate or 92-day or 182-day treasury bill yield or any other external benchmark approved by Financial Benchmarks of India. When that happens, home loan borrowers will have no complaints about the opacity surrounding interest rates.

    Engineless, Semi-Bullet Train To Link Delhi With Kolkata

    The Indian Railways is all set to connect Delhi and Kolkata with India’s first indigenously built, engineless Train-18. The semi-bullet train is expected to cover the 1,400-km distance in 12 hours, as against the current 18-hour run. The new fleet of trains is being developed under the Indian Railways’ Mission Raftaar, and will run at an average speed of 160 km per hour on 9,000-km main trunk routes. These 16-coach trains will be completely air-conditioned, offering Wi-Fi connectivity and on-board infotainment for the passengers.

    Delhi To Have London-Like Metro-Rail Interlinked Corridor

    The National Capital Region Transport Corporation on December 7 approved the detailed project report of the Delhi-Gurgaon-Shahjahanpur-Neemrana-Behror Urban Complex RRTS corridor. The 106 km-corridor, which will have 16 stations, is one of the three RRTS corridors the government has planned to decongest the national capital region. The other two corridors will be built between Delhi-Meerut and Delhi—Panipat. These corridors would be linked to the Delhi Metro network, offering a multi-modal integrated transit system.
