Bawana Fire: Things To Know About Building Fire Safety
Fire accidents have claimed 17,700 lives in the year 2015 out of the reported 18,450 cases in India. The recent episodes of fire tragedy at a rooftop restaurant in Mumbai's Kamala Mills and another at a firecracker storage unit in the Bawana industrial area of north Delhi, have highlighted the inadequacy of fire safety norms in the country. Fire accident cases caused by electric short circuit outnumbers fire due to other reasons. The National Building Code of (NBC) India lays down set of guidelines for constructing, maintaining and operating buildings of all types with focus on the essential fire safety requirements.
