Much-Delayed Dwarka Expressway Is Nearing CompletionSince “all obstacles have been removed”, the 29-kilometre Dwarka Expressway could be ready in another one-and-a-half year, says Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority Chief Executive Officer V Umashankar. The project, aimed at decongesting the Delhi-Gurgaon highway, was stuck owing to land acquisition issues at New Palam Vihar and Kherki Daula.
53 Gurgaon Villages Set To Become Urban AreasThe Department of Town and Country Planning is planning to declare 53 villages in Gurgaon as urban areas. With that, Section 7A of the Urban Areas Act, 1975, would apply on development of these 53 villages. When that happens, a seller will have to seek a no-objection certificate from the department to sell his land. The registration department would seek this document at the time of the registration of the property.
DDA To Now Launch Housing Scheme 2018 In DecemberThe Delhi Development Authority, which was to launch the Housing Scheme 2018 in June, has now delayed it to December. Under the new scheme, the housing authority will offer fresh units instead of the surrendered counterparts as it did in previous schemes. However, of the 21,000 flats on offer, according to the DDA spokerperson, some are not complete.
Delhi Metro's Blue Line Extension Will Work Its MagiThe Cabinet on May 16 approved extension of the Metro rail network from Noida City Centre to Sector 62, which borders Ghaziabad, with an investment of Rs 1,967 crore. The New Line will be an extension of the Dwarka-Noida City Centre Line of the Delhi Metro. The extended route will provide transport facility to a large number of people living in Noida, besides catering to residents of close-by areas of Ghaziabad.
Delhi Corporations Intensify Action Against EncroachAfter a demolition drive in Asola on March 14 and in Mehrauli on April 12, the South Delhi task force recently carried out a drive in Adhchini. Forty-year-old shops and a room that was found to be encroaching were razed. Not just these places, in March, the Delhi Traffic Police were able to remove encroachments from 32.5 km of roads in the national capital.
