The Delhi-Meerut Expressway, a 438-kilometre-long highway, links national capital Delhi to Lucknow via Ghaziabad, Hapur, Moradabad, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur and Sitapur. Although the highway has been recognised as a fast-developing affordable housing corridor in the National Capital Region (NCR), its expansion plan has assumed more significance in the wake of frequent traffic jams and lack of public transport.

In a report by global consultancy and research firm Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA), India's aviation industry will become the third-largest market in the world with regards to departures by 2019, and job creation by 2027. After the lease formalities were completed, the district administration has now handed over 90 per cent of the land to the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
