Thoraipakkam is part of Chennai Municipal Corporation and is located in the Southern part of Chennai. It lies on the IT Expressway and is surrounded by Karappakkam, Injamabakkam, Neelankarai, Pallikaran areas. Thoraipakkam is bounded in east by Buckingham Canal and in west by Pallikaranai Marsh Reserve Forest.

Connectivity
The locality of Thoraipakkam is well-connected to other areas through buses run by Metropolitan transport Corporation, taxis, rickshaws and other transport vehicles. The airport lies at a distance of 13.5 kilometres and Chennai Central Railway station is at a distance of 18 kilometres from here. The area has a vast network of roads, which connect it to the IT corridor and Grand Southern Trunk Road (GST Road).
