The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation will be sending each resident a separate property tax bill in place of sending a consolidated bill to the housing society. Typically, residents' welfare associations of housing societies collect property tax from members and deposit it with the municipal body. However, the new rule would apply to only buildings, which have received an occupation certificate after April 2018.

During a hearing on April 16, Jaypee Infratech had said that its valuation has been slashed drastically and had put forth an affidavit to the Supreme Court stating that with the help of interim funds, it can finish the flats. However, this proposal has been rejected by the apex court as the statute bars an ailing company to bid. Jaypee says that its representation should have been considered given that it had been completing 500 units every month.

Following an order of the Allahabad High Court, the Noida Authority has said it would not issue occupancy certificate to real estate company Omaxe for its project Grand Omaxe in Noida till the builder pays dues to the tune of Rs 250 crore. About 300 residents are already occupying flats in this project since 2012 without the units being registered.

The unsold inventory lying with Noida builders might be given to farmers as compensation, if the suggestions of the Noida district magistrate are accepted by the Uttar Pradesh government. In a letter to the state chief secretary, Gautam Buddh Nagar District Magistrate BN Singh has suggested that the three development bodies in the region should make use of the unsold flats and commercial establishment of developers to compensate farmers who have been staging frequent agitations owning to a long delay in getting compensation.
