Pammal is a suburb located to the south-west of Chennai in Kancheepuram district. The place is well-known for its tannery and leather factories. It is a commercially developing district, located close to Pallavaram, situated between GST and Inner Ring Road. The name of the place is given after the legend Pammal Vijayaranga Sambandha Mudaliar, who is considered as the father of Tamil theatre. It is bounded by Anakaputhur, Pozhichalur, Kundrathur and Mangadu. The place is at a distance of 23.4 kilometre from city centre. The place can also labelled as a religious spot since it has many temples in its locality.
