Pallavaram is a town situated 17 kilometres away from the main city. It derived its name from Pallava Settlement. It is a part of Alandur Taluk of Kanchipuram district. It is known for its Cantonment area because Mughals as well as Britishers established their military base here. Stone Age artifacts were also discovered by some British archaeologists. It has beautiful forests and lush green hills near residential colonies.

Connectivity
It is close to IT corridors of south Chennai attracting residents to this locality. This region is close to GST road and OMR road. Some areas in the radius of 4-6 kilometres are Chitalapakkam, Nanganallur, Chitalapakkam, Meenambakkam and Kunrathur. Airport is merely three kilometres from Pallavaram Bus stand. The bus stand connects Egmore, T Nagar, Adyar, Central and Koyambedu. Pallavaram Railway Station is located in this region and is an important mode of transport for the commuters of this region. Taxis and auto-rickshaws are available but are not a preferred mode of transportation.
