Medavakkam is a residential area in Chennai. The adjoining areas include Thambaram, Sholinganallur, Selaiyur, Pallikaranai, and Velacheri. It is situated on the Sholinganallur Road that houses ELCOT SEZ IT Park adjoining Old Mahabalipuram Road at Sholinganallur junction.

Connectivity
Chennai is known for its well-connected roads and rail transport within and to the outskirts of the city. Medavakkam does not have a rail network connecting it, however, it is linked to many areas with the help of MTC of Chennai. Nearest suburban rail network is located in Thambaram. It is at a distance of 24 kilometres from Chennai central and 12.7 kilometres from Chennai domestic terminal. Both these places can be reached by bus and train routes however, boarding suburban train from Thambaram is found to be more convenient to reach central railway station and airport as there are numerous buses to Thambaram Station from Medavakkam. There are shorter route buses to areas including Keelkatalai, Adambakam, Brindavan Nagar.

Real estate
Medavakkam, however, is located close to Sholinganallur, the IT hub of Chennai city. The property rates here are affordable when compared to other areas in Chennai. Real estate in Medavakkam is available at a price of Rs 4,000 and rents are pocket friendly with a 2BHK flat available for Rs 10,000. The major landmarks in Medavakkam include Nanmangalam Reserve forest that is popular for the exotic varieties of birds visiting it during certain seasons. It is a prime location in Chennai for bird watchers. KaleesuwariRefinery Private Limited is a sought after oil refinery manufacturing edible oil is located here. Sendur Gardens, which have attracted many developers, is a prime landmark for Medavakkam with many upcoming projects.
