    Karnataka To Construct Highrises Under CM One Lakh Homes Scheme

    Changes were recently made in the CM One Lakh Homes Scheme 2019, meant for the Below-Poverty-Line (BPL) category, owing to lack of land availability and constraint on resources. Under the scheme, announced early this year with an aim to construct homes on 1,500 acres of government land reclaimed from encroachers, highrises of ground-plus-14 floors would be built instead of the previous plan of ground-plus-three floors. This move will help increase the number of units and will accommodate more homebuyers.

    India Receives Highest Remittances, Trend Will Continue: World Bank

    Indian diaspora has retained the top position when it comes to sending money back home this year. With $80 billion of remittance in 2018, India is closely followed by China that received $67 billion, says the World Bank. In 2016, India received $62.7 billion in remittance. By 2017, the number had grown to $65.3 billion, constituting almost 2.7 per cent of the gross domestic product.

    Chandigarh Civic Body To Launch Action Against Encroachment

    After the Punjab and Haryana High Court (HC) said encroachments from the government land be removed as early as possible, the municipal corporation is set to launch action against illegal constructions in Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali. For a planned intervention, the civic body is planning to visit each household to survey the situation and file a report on the action taken, as mandated by the HC. The first report in the matter is expected to be presented by December 20.

    NBCC, Kotak Among 4 Shortlisted To Buy Insolvency-Hit Jaypee Infratech

    Government-owned NBCC along with Kotak Investment, Singapore-based Cube Highways and Suraksha Group have been shortlisted to acquire debt-laden Jaypee Infratech. Currently, insolvency proceedings against the company are underway in the National Company Law Tribunal. Last year, when Lakshadweep Pvt Ltd, a joint venture between Sudhir Valia-led Suraksha Asset Reconstruction Company and Mumbai-based Dosti Realty, won the bid to buy the company for Rs 7,350 crore, Jaypee declined the offer on the grounds of undervaluation.
