Arekere is a residential neighbourhood located towards the south of Bengaluru. The area has been named so for the water reservoir here. The neighbourhood was developed by BDA and its construction started around 1970s. Prominent sub-localities of the area are Arekere Mico Layout, Sarvabhoumanagar and Pandurangnagar.
The neighbourhood gained prominence in early 2000s with the coming of BPOs and IT companies.

Connectivity

Arekere enjoys good connectivity with the rest of the city through Bannerghatta Road. Bangalore City Railway Station and Kempegowda Bus Stand in Majestic are 16 kilometres away from here. Kempegowda International Airport is a 42 kilometres drive from here. The area is served by BMTC buses and auto rickshaws.

Arekere Mico Layout also has a playground, a temple dedicated to Lord Ganesh and a mini forest. Banks such as Karnataka Bank, Vijaya Bank and State Bank of Mysore have their branches located in the vicinity.
