          Stop All Construction In Delhi's Unauthorised Colonies: SC

          The Supreme Court has halted further constructions in 1,797 colonies of Delhi, which are not in conformity with the building bye laws. The top court has asked the Centre to set up a special task force to oversee enforcement of laws regarding illegal constructions. Also, the Delhi High Court has warned the Delhi government of a time bomb in the making owing to its vested interest of regularising illegal constructions with the support of municipal corporations.

          The Maharashtra State Cabinet took two key decisions in a meeting held on April 24 that have come as a boost for real estate market of the capital city, Mumbai. In a move that has come as great relief to those who left Pakistan to settle in India after the Partition in 1947, the state has decided to freehold their properties. It has also decided to reduce the lease rent it charges form co-operative housing societies built on government land in Mumbai.

          Mumbai Monorail Phase-II May Be Operational Soon

          After missing many deadlines, Phase-II of the Mumbai Monorail will be operational soon. The route, which was slated to get operational in December 2017, got delayed due to shortcomings found in the safety parameters. While Phase-I operations are still suspended after the fire broke in two coaches of the Monorail rake in November last, the state government has shelved all Monorail projects that were proposed in the metropolitan region (MMR) due to financial reasons.

          Gurgaon Caps Property Registration Charge Of Licensed Colonies At Rs 15,000

          In what could be termed as a major reformatory step in the real estate sector, the Gurgaon administration has capped registration charges for properties in licensed colonies at Rs 15,000. In a notification issued on April 2, the Gurgaon district town planner has ruled that real estate developers in the city could charge Rs 15,000 from homebuyers towards the administrative registration of flats.
